Conceived by Boeing Business Jets in collaboration with Edése Doret Industrial Design, the BBJ 737-8 “Dragon Rose” interior is a bold reinterpretation of Art Deco elegance through the lens of contemporary private aviation. Inspired by themes of romance, sensuality, and timeless glamour, the cabin transforms the traditional aircraft interior into an immersive spatial experience defined by emotion, craftsmanship, and theatrical refinement.
Rather than relying on conventional aviation materials and visual language, the design introduces a highly curated palette of metal composite surfaces, polycarbonate, carbon fiber, and textured finishes, intentionally moving away from the heavy use of traditional wood cabinetry often associated with legacy VVIP interiors. This approach creates a lighter, more progressive aesthetic while maintaining the richness and sophistication expected within the Boeing Business Jet environment.
At the heart of the design is the recurring rose motif, a symbolic narrative thread woven throughout the aircraft. Subtle floral patterns emerge within the carpet, decorative panels, etched surfaces, and material textures, creating visual continuity across the cabin while reinforcing the emotional theme of romance and exclusivity. These details are balanced against clean architectural lines, layered lighting compositions, and sculptural forms inspired by the geometric precision of the Art Deco movement.
The main lounge and dining environments are designed to evoke the atmosphere of an intimate private club or luxury penthouse rather than a traditional aircraft cabin. Soft indirect lighting, reflective metallic accents, richly textured surfaces, and carefully composed sightlines establish a cinematic ambiance throughout the interior. Each seating zone was developed to maximize openness, comfort, and social interaction while preserving the sense of privacy expected in ultra-VVIP travel.
Within the private suite and wellness areas, the design language becomes more intimate and serene. Illuminated architectural wall treatments, layered materials, and refined detailing create a tranquil residential atmosphere that emphasizes relaxation during long-range travel. The lavatory and dressing spaces further extend the Art Deco narrative through the use of reflective surfaces, geometric framing, and integrated ambient lighting, creating an experience more closely aligned with luxury hospitality design than conventional aviation interiors.
